Minister Ahmed Hussen Received CHRIO Project

Ahmed Hussen, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship for the Government of Canada, shared with CHRIO’s team during a speech of the Liberal Party in York South Weston last friday.

Hussen, who arrived to Canada when he was a teenager after civil war in Somalia, invited the people to support the Liberal Party in the next Federal election in Octobre 21, 2019.

During his speech, the Minister talked about the politics achievements in this federal district, the diversity and how important is create opportunities for Canada`s middle class.

“Canada is strong because its diversity, not in spite of its diversity. Our differences make us strong…”, said Hussen.

In the event, Canadian Human Rights International Organization (CHRIO) with one of its director Mario Guilombo, gave to the Minister a CHRIO’s Project to addresing the plight of skilled inmigrants in Canada.

“Skilled inmigrants in Canada face implicit and explicit barriers preventing them from accesing careers they are qualified in, leading them to “survival jobs” to which they become dependent on, resulting in a waste of brainpower and ability”, quote the document.

The CHRIO’s proposal is create a program Skilled Inmigrant Employment Access Review Board (SIEARB) to support skilled inmigrants and acting as mediators between inmigrants employment seekers and employers.
