Liliana Angarita

Liliana Angarita is a social and communitarian worker and human rights defender, She is community leader , she is a passionate human rights activist who has supported and helped hundreds families, refugees and victim of human rights abuses and persecution.

She is a community Centre Director of the Canadian Human Rights International Organization CHRIO – www.Chrio.ca , and she works diligently to help persons in need. She is an excellent human Rights defender who contributing greatly to newcomers and to build a new life. She has a studies in social work and psychology, Early child education and human rights.

In 2003, she began her volunteer and social work by co-founding the Latin-American House, Casa de las Americas, dedicating her time to helping newcomers and people in need. In 2004, Angarita co-founded the Collective Human Rights Defender “Laura Acosta” Corporation and continued her activities in support of victims of workplace harassments, detention, torture, defamation, suspension for their employment, and human rights defenders in prisons overseas.

Liliana is Cofounder of Collective human rights Defender, Canadian Human Rights International Organization CHRIO and Casa de las Americas and support hundreds and hundreds of victims of human rights violations and newcomers. She is encouraging newcomers to integrate positive in our Canadian society.

Mrs. Angarita is also educating the public on matters relating to human rights by providing courses, seminars, workshops and other educational programs but their organization did not receive financial support, only voluntaries workers.

She was recognized as one of the top 25 immigrants in Canada in May 2010, Constance E. Hamilton Award on the Status of Women, Volunteer Awards, Leading women Award, and Queen Elizabeth Medal, Share the Light Awards – Category Welcoming Communities Award, Successful Women Award, Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers, leadership award and other municipal, provincial and federal recognitions. Lilian Julieth Guilombo
Juvenile leader

Lilian Julieth life has been an active participant in the non-profit sector, as a volunteer, as Executive Director, as youth Human Rights Program Director, as a community organizer, a volunteer coordinator, and a board member; also for those who are already working in the non-profit and voluntary sector. She is leader in our communities. She is recognized young Hispanic leader

Founder and Youth Human Rights Program Director Lilian Julieth Guilombo is a recognized young human Rights Defender, and social and communitarian volunteer worker with several years in different programs of our communities.

She promotes human rights as a youth communitarian hard worker.

As Executive Director at Canadian Human Rights International Organization, she help more and more people in need in Canada and around the world.

She has Community and Justice Service’s studies, Human Rights and International Human Rights studies.
Born in Colombia she is former Petty officer first Class of de Navy League of Canada and former Cadet of de Air Cadets 188 Cobra Squadron, settlement program for children newcomers.

Ms. Lilian Julieth Guilombo works focused on monitoring abuses against children human rights around the world promoting public support for human rights, promoting respect for human rights among children. In October 2012 Lilian Julieth request support and protection for Malala Yousufzai to Prime Minister of Pakistan in accordance to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights set by United Nations. She participates with other human rights organizations in demonstrations and campaigns in the defense of other human rights defenders and victims also prepares support for children and other places.

Entrepreneurship: Lilian Julieth co-founded Canadian Human Rights International Organization CHRIO with presence in all continents and Collective Human Rights Defenders “Laura Acosta” International Organization COHURIDELA.

Achievements & awards: She was also recognized as one of the Youth volunteers awards 2012; CHRIO’s Volunteers’ Awards; New Pioneers awards 2013, Lieutenant Governor’s Community Volunteer Award for students 2014; The Share the Light Leadership Award 2015 and she received more federal, provincial and municipal recognitions. Human Rights Program & International Missions Director Mario is a lawyer and a human rights activist who graduated from the Nueva Granada Military University with studies in human rights and international human rights, Security and Police Sciences, Forensic Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, International Women’s Health and Human Rights ( Stanford University), Children’s Human Rights

(University de Genève), Course on the Inter-American System for the Protection of Human Rights (Washington College of the Law), International Law in Action: Investigating and prosecuting International Crimes (Universitei Leiden), Understanding Violence (Emory University), Human Rights (Universite De Genève), Indigenous Canada (University of Alberta), Understanding Terrorism and the Terrorist Theatre (University o Maryland), Security & Safety challenges in a globalized world (Universitei Leiden), Human Rights – Refugees people rights ( Amnesty International), Terrorism and Counterterrorism (Universityie Leiden), International Law in action – International Courts and Tribunals in The Hague (Universitei Leiden), Corruption (Wharthon Universty), Humanitarian communication (University of Geneva).

Mario has a distinguished record of human rights advocacy in Canada and overseas and he now works on defending the human rights of thousands of others who are victims of persecution and human rights violations around the world. His outstanding service has been widely recognized. Canadian Hispanic 2008; Top 25 Canadian Immigrant 2009; Twelve Outstanding Canadian Citizen Award Canada’s Citizenship Award 2010; The Mentor Award of Excellence in 2010; New Pioneers Award Community Service 2011; Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal 2013; A humanitarian, devoted to tolerance and compassion with a true understanding of community spirit that help with his efforts on behalf of immigrants and victims of human rights violations Mario received recognitions in the International, Federal , Provincial and Municipal Level for; Volunteer Service Awards 5, 10 years; Recognition Navy League Of Canada and others international; recognitions as human rights defender and social and communitarian worker; The Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award, the best human rights defenders lawyer 2019; Great Commentator of Belmonte.

Since then, he has founded and spearheaded several organizations that support and assist victims of violence, discrimination, racism and other human rights violations, including the corporation Collective Defender of Human Rights for Spanish Speaking People.

The lack of support for programs promoting human rights eventually motivated him to create the Collective Human Rights Defender “Laura Acosta” International Organization COHURIDELA www.cohuridela.com, which supports disadvantaged immigrants who have been harassed, wrongfully detained, tortured, or defamed.


Along with his wife Lilliana Angarita, and her daughter Lilian Julieth Guilombo they founded the Canadian Human Rights International Organization www.chrio.ca (CHRIO) of which he is a board member as chair President. Mario founded the Journal – News Human Rights Journal www.humanrightsjournal.ca

The CHRIO is non-profit organization whose aim is to defend fundamental rights, human value and dignity, equality of rights between men and women. It has been created with the support of legal professional, professional of social work, psychology, criminology and human rights and members from membres de la société civile. Its headquarter is in Toronto (Canada), with subsidiaries in Colombia, Mexico and in other countries.

Since arriving in Canada as a refugee, Mario Guilombo has worked to support over 22,000 familles. Prior to founding the Canadian Human Rights International Organization (CHRIO) in 2003, Mario worked for the Foundation Humanistic as Human Rights Program Director. He also founded and worked Casa de las Americas, CARI, as chair president and he is a founder of Collective Human Rights Defenders “Laura Acosta” International Organization COHURIDELA, also work at Canadian United Hands International Organization CUHIO. Mario has coauthored the Project of Code Human Rights of Republic of Colombia and she presented project for the establishment of the Ministry of Human Rights in Colombia – his motherland. He is currently a placement Supervisor for Student of university and colleges and work in partnerships and teaching and all time learning. Also human rights defender is his passion.

IN COHURIDELA and CHRIO Mario Guilombo leads a large group of human rights defenders around the world.
